Council General meeting will be held on Wednesday August 23rd at 7:30 PM.Rosary will be prayed starting at 7:15. Refreshments and a social will follow the meeting.

Fund Raising Activities

News:


Father Ralph Mensah from St. Patricks in Ghana spoke at the June Meeting. Father Ralph is visited OLV this summer. The council has supported his school in the past and is planning a breakfast to be held Sept. 24th at the OLV activities center to benefit his school. Check the website and the OLV bulletin for details.


The council held a Fifth Sunday Rosary on Sunday July 30th after the 9:30 am Mass at Our Lady of Victory Church.  The Rosary was led by Council members after the Mass.  Thanks to Chairman Matt Hunt and the members and their families who participated.


Council 4678 received the church service award at the June meeting. We were recognized for our support of OLV school, St. Joe’s and support for vocations


Seminarian Peter Crowe received a Mass Kit from Faithful Navigator Dennis Marince as a gift from the Our Lady of Victory Fourth Degree Assembly #1945 at the May Council meeting. Father Crowe was ordained later that week in the Altoona-Johnstown diocese. The Council helped support Peter for years through the KofC RSVP program. Father Crowe is member of Fr. O'Hanlon Council and also the Fourth Degree Assembly.


Ruthie Dangelo received the Council $750 Scholarship and the State Council Scholarship Award in the amount of $3000. She will be attending Bloomsburg University in the fall majoring in nursing.  The presentation was made prior to the May Council meeting.


The Council and the Red Cross held a blood drive on June 13th. 45 people walked through the door and 39 units were collected. The next Drive will be August 1th 1-6:30PM.


Council 4678 volunteered at the aquatics events at the PA Special Olympics on June 2-4th. The events are held on the Penn State Campus.


Brothers helping brother. Members of the council helped relocate one of their own on May 13th. Over 30 people participated.  Special care was taken transporting the statue of the Blessed Mother to its new location! It was hard work, but everyone had a good time.


The Council ran a breakfast at OLV church on May 7th. The event  raised over 3300.00 for Fr. Charles’ Anawim project.  Anawim is a faith based organization whose goal is to heed the call of Christ to alleviate suffering thorough Education while providing for the unmet medical and material needs of the poorest in Nigeria. We thank the Anawim board, Boy Scout Troop 83 and Knights and family members who helped at the event

Recent Activities

The 2017 baby bottle campaign collected over $8000.00 from OLV parish and made its own donation to bring the total raised during to over 9,000.00. The proceeds will assist 18 mothers and their baby. Shown in the photo, Arlene Alison of the Gabriel Project receives a check from Grand Knight Dennis Marince. Thank you to all who donated and volunteered.

Council 4678 needs your help in its concession stands at PSU home football games. The first game is Saturday September 2nd.  The entire schedule and more information can be found here. Kickoff for the game is noon, gates open at 10:30 am.  This fundraising effort has enabled us to help the Church, Catholic Education, and the community.  We can’t do it without your help.  Several family teams have helped in the past and we hope to have more this year.  Workers must be 16 or older.  Community Service letters can be provided.  Contact either Doug Lang 574-6677 or doug.e.lang@gmail.com or Lionel T Bassett ltb10@comcast.net or 814 238-7003 if you can help or if you have questions.

The Council and the Red Cross held a blood drive on Tuesday August 15th. The drive collected 37 units of blood, enough to help 90 people that are in need. Thank you to the volunteers and the 40 people who came through the door. The next drive is October 17th from 1 to 6:30 PM.  Come give the gift of life.
