Upcoming Events:

General Council Meeting. Wednesday  August 13th. Meeting starts at 7:30 PM. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:15 PM. This will be the only council meeting in August.

Annual fall Knight's Picnic will be held on Friday August 15, 2014. All Knights and a adult guest ( wife, friend, prospective member) are invited. The picnic is free and will start with a happy hour from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The main course will be served at 5:30 PM. Please RSVP by Monday August 11 by calling 238-2688, Lionel Basset ( 404-5477) or George McCormick ( 441-8304). Please state if you will bring a guest. Menu: Barbecue Chicken, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Kiebasa, Baked Beans, Corn on the Cob, Cucumber & Tomato Salad, Adult Beverages, Soft Drinks, Dessert.

Teresa Sicree was selected as the 2104 Council scholarship recipient.

The Knights of Columbus, through the Measure-Up campaign, solicited for The Arc of Pennsylvania weekends in May. Brother and Deputy Grand Knight Jim Laughran organized the event.

Council 4678 ran the aquatics competition at the PA Special Olympics held June 6th and 7th on the Penn State campus.

The Knights of Columbus held its yearly Easter Egg Hunt of April 19th. 60 children and their families were treated to real dyed eggs, refreshments, a treat bag, prizes and a visit from the Easter Bunny! Thank you to all who helped.

The KofC-Red Cross Blood drive collected 37 usable pints of blood in April. This will provide various blood products to over 100 people! The Next drive is June 17th.

On Feb 22nd SJCA established a Columbian Squires Circle sponsored by Father O’Hanlon Council. A dozen young men became the founding Squires of the Circle. 

The KofC-Red Cross Blood Drive netted 28 pints on Feb 18th. 28 units help up to 120 people in need of blood products. Next drive April 15th.

Council #4678 hosted the 2014 Free Throw Competition at OLV School on January 26th.

The council ran a baby bottle campaign to support pro-life activities. The campaign ran from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day. Over 500 bottles were distributed. Proceeds will benefit the Gabriel Project, a local pro-life movement offering parish-based pastoral care to women in a crisis pregnancy.  The return is expected to help 16 mothers and infants.
